Actual Costs: P90X vs The GYM

Okay so P90X groupies and sales men keep harping on the cost savings of their workout at home over going to the gym... Attempting to do the same workouts, is there truth to their claim? Lets look at the numbers.

Keep in mind, this is a response to the P90X groupies and sales men, not the genuine people who do it because they can't leave the house for one reason or another or can't go to gym for personal reasons.  This is about truth to a claim.

For someone who is going to pursue them (P90X & The Gym) legitly (legally):

• P90X Cost: "Base" cost is $120 with no tools (weights etc.), "Ultimate" cost is $330 (source: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/p90x.do)
• THE GYM Cost: Local gyms is $10 to $15 a month, big gyms range from $15-$30; with all the tools you need (weights, bands, machines, classes, etc.) (source: http://www.fitnessconnectionusa.com/, http://www.lafitness.com/Pages/Default.aspx, http://www.24hourfitness.com/not-yet-member.html)

1. At $10 a month a gym offers WAY MORE than "Base" P90X and is cheaper for a whole YEAR! not including the costs of the equipment for P90X!!
2. At $30 a month a big gym offeres WAY MORE options than "Ultimate" P90X and is cheaper for the first 11 months!

For someone who is going to pursue them (P90X & The Gym) through piracy and other illegal means:

• P90X is free when pirated; but the tools have to still be purchased or borrowed and the guides have to be pirated or copied as well.  In the end, with all the extra effort, its free.
• The GYM is free as well with trial offers and guest passes (this is legit).  Someone can also simply walk into an apartment complex and use their gym for free (this is not so legit).  In the end with all the extra effort, its free.

1. To obtain and do P90X for free with out borrowing it from a friend, its a felony.
2. To go to a gym for free with out a membership, its free, and not a felony.
3. To go and use apartments gyms and not be a resident, its still not a felony.

THE TRUTH:

The truth is when it comes to doing the same P90X workouts, at the gym... it is still more cost effective and morally right to just go to the gym where you have everything you need, for less to get the same results in 90 days...

90 day gym membership cost - free to not a felony, $30 to $60

Using P90X for 90 days cost - free to a felony, $120 to $330 + equipment costs!

The FACT is you can do the exact same workouts as P90X, to get the same results, at the gym, AND still have more options, for less cost.  So all you P90X groupies and sales men, stop with your ignorant sales pitches and quit hating on the advantages of the gym.  Yay, we're glad you got results from P90X, but stop being proud arrogant haters when your the one that spent more money for less options, or just broke the law ;)

"Don't waste your money with a gym membership" is a lie.
